How to destress

Either you are here because you are stressed out and you want to relax or you are reading this because you have time and want to read my blog :) Anyway, I hope that I can give some tips and ideas for you to relax and to take some time for yourself.
What is stress actually? Well, stress is a chemical reaction that we experience when we come into contact with something that causes tension or pressure. That something can be a deadline or an upcoming exam. It can be anything. Stress aims to put our body in a state of readiness. But to much stress isn't good for you. So here are ten things you can do to relax!
1. Sleep

Get some rest, your body deserves it. If it is still day, take a powernap. If it is already night, go to sleep and finish your work tomorrow. You will feel much better after a good nap/sleep!
2. Coloring
Buy yourself a coloring book and some color pencils if you don't have them. Color a page and you will feel much more relaxed! If you are really talented, you can also make your own drawing and draw everything you feel. Be creative and relax.
3. Healthy lifestyle

A healthy lifestyle is also a must! If you only eat sugary foods and don't do some kind of excercise, you won't feel motivated to do anything. Try to drink lots of water and eat healthy foods. If you want, I can make a whole blogpost about healthy study snacks.
A good nightrest is also good for reducing stress!
4. Yoga or meditate
Search some yoga videos on YouTube or some meditation videos and try it out! It is the best thing to relax! I personally love the YouTube channel Yoga with Adrienne for yoga. I would say, try it and maybe you will like it.
5. Read a book

Research has shown that reading is the number one destressing thing to do. Only six minutes of reading can reduce 68% of your stress. So pick your favourite book, read for ten minutes and your good to go.
6. Breathe
Breathe in and out... try the 4-7-8 method. Breathe in (with your nose) for 4 seconds, hold it for 7 seconds and breathe out (with your mouth) for 8 seconds. Repeat this for a few times and you will be instantly calmed down!
7. Go outside for 10 minutes

Go outside, go for a walk, play with your dog, read a book, eat or drink something. Just be outside, away from your desk or anything that causes your stress! Listen to the birds or the cars. If you live in a busy town, look at people (I know that sounds creepy, but, admit, we all do this), just do anything you want but leave the stress inside!
8. Drink some tea
I am not a fan of tea, but if you are, drink a cup of tea! Not coffee, that will causes even more stress. Drink green tea, it keeps your heartbeat and blood pressure in balance and it relaxes you.
9. Take a shower or a bath

Yes, another reason to buy a new bathbomb from Lush! Take a bath with your favourite essential oil or bath bomb. Or take a shower with your favourite shower gel and pamper yourself. You deserve it.
